Thyroid and parathyroid surgery

Thyroid surgery is a procedure performed to remove all or part of the thyroid gland, typically for the treatment of conditions such as thyroid cancer, goiter (enlargement of the thyroid gland), or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).

Parathyroid surgery, also known as parathyroidectomy, is a procedure performed to remove one or more of the four parathyroid glands. This is typically performed to treat hyperparathyroidism, a condition where one or more of the parathyroid glands produce too much parathyroid hormone. Both thyroid and parathyroid surgeries are typically performed using minimally invasive techniques and require general anesthesia. The recovery time for these procedures varies, but most people are able to return to their normal activities within a few days to a couple of weeks.
